The dance at the Village Hall on Saturday evening, organised by Mrs. Olive Tarbet on behalf of the Community Council Pavilion Fund, was very well attended and made a profit of over £38. The music was provided by 'Brian and Mick' from Sudbury and this group adds to their popularity each time they visit Boxford. Everyone appeared to enjoy themselves thoroughly and Mrs. Tarbet and all her helpers are to be congratulated for providing such a lot of pleasure to so many.

A well attended meeting was held in the Village Hall on Tuesday to inaugurate a Young Wives Group in Boxford. Lady Cull, who presided, said 'Here is an opportunity for all the young wives in this growing village to get to know each other in a modern and friendly way.'

The date of the Annual Parish Meeting has been fixed for Monday, March 23 in the Village Hall. This is a public meeting and gives an opportunity to everyone to meet the chairman and members of the parish council, to ask questions, and to voice any criticisms or complaints they may have in relation to village affairs.
It is understood that Mr. A. T. Dunn who represents Boxford together with many other villages on the West Suffolk County Council will be present.

Shortly before 9 a.m. on Tuesday the chimney at the Cedar House, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Henderson in Butchers Lane, Boxford, was found to be on fire.
The alarm was given and two fire engines, one from Ipswich and one from Hadleigh, were soon on the scene and the fire was quickly put under control.

Boxford Parish Council held their quarterly meeting on Monday. There was a full attendance of members and Mr. T. C. Clark was in the chair.
The clerk reported that he had so far received no definite reply to his inquiry regarding a way through from the Coxhill to Plumb Lane, but the matter was being discussed.

Anger at County Council plans for the development of Boxford was expressed at a meeting of the Parish Council on Monday night.
The anger was expressed when there was a long discussion on the recent report prepared by the West Suffolk Planning Department on the future development of the county.
In this report Boxford is classified as a village where limited areas of land may be released for housing in a phased programme of development taking into account the varying factors relating to the village as set out in the report.

The annual general meeting of the Boxford Community Council is being held at the Village Hall on Friday, March 13.
At this meeting a report will be given on the financial position, the progress made, and the plans for the future.

One of the organisations in Boxford which is carried on unostentiously is a Troop of Girl Guides, and Miss Sloan, their leader, is organising a coffee morning and bring and buy at Nurse's House, Cox Hill, on Saturday, March 7, from 10.30 to noon, to raise funds for them.

Towards the end of last year a party of people paid a visit to Berlin as guests of the American Air Force Command at Wethersfield. Amongst the party were Mrs. Swan, of East Lodge, Boxford House, and Mr. Malcolm Jones, whose parents live at Parsonage Farm.

A jumble sale organised by the Friends of Boxford School, was held in the Village Hall on Saturday afternoon. It was well supported and the funds of the School are likely to benefit by about £30. The cake stall was particularly well patronised.

Mr. Joshua Parr, the Chairman, presided over a meeting of the Village Hall Committee on Monday evening. There were unfortunately many absentees.
The hon. secretary, Mrs. Williams, explained the reasons why the lectures on Local History and Safe Driving had had to be held in Boxford School rather than in the Village Hall, but she considered the prospects of letting the hall for any lectures arranged for the autumn were quite promising. She also reported that a new letting had been made for alternate Tuesday evenings.

Mrs. Swan, of Boxford, is well known for her work for Sue Ryder Foundation and acts as Chairman of the Cavendish Home Support Group. Her Sudbury market stall contributes a weekly income to this splendid charity and on Friday, February 27, she organised a special 'Opportunity Boutique and Hat Bar' at Boxford House, the home of Doctor Conrad and Lady Hilda Swan.

Boxford, it is said, has not been renowned in the past for its corporate spirit, but there is every indication today that those who live in the village are becoming more and more closely united.
The success of the Community Council and the Youth Club; the greater interest shown in both the men's and women's sections of the British Legion; the flourishing Over Sixties' Club and the strong link between the school and the parents are obvious instances of this tendency.
