The Old Tudor Mansion c1915

"Old Tudor Mansion" once stood where The Paddocks is now on School Hill. It was expanded over the smaller real Tudor house shown in the first photo just after 1911. A new wing with a great hall 40ft by 10ft and a minstrel's gallery were added and the old house was given a 'Tudor' makeover. It was taken apart around 1918 to be shipped to the USA, but was actually rebuilt as Beke Hall at Billingshurst in Sussex where it has since sadly burnt down.

High Street, now known as Broad Street, Boxford c1914 This postcard shows the Maltings, which if you look closely are continued on the opposite side of the road where today only the lower half of the wall remains. The White Hart has it's railings and original sign and an extension to the front. The Fleece has a canopy over the window.
