Many people in Boxford were very sorry to hear of the death on New Year's Day of Mr. H. C. (Charlie) Raynham, which took place in a London hospital.

Charlie, who would have been 82 on 9th January, was born in Aldham and came from a farming family. He was engaged in farming at Kersey before moving to Boxford in 1909 where, at different times, he farmed Hill Farm and Brickhouse Farm. He had not been in good health recently.

In his younger days he was a well known figure in all country activities including the hunting field, and although he outlived most of the farming friends of his own generation, he was a popular figure in the district amongst people of all ages and will be much missed.

He leaves a widow, a son - Mr. Richard Raynham, and a married daughter - Mrs. Barbara Bird, to whom the sympathy of the village is extended.
