The annual whist drive on behalf of the National Institute for the Blind was held at the Village Hall on Wednesday and was a great success although owing to clashing of dates with other drives, the attendance was hardly up to the standard of previous years.

Mr. Barnham acted as M.C. and the following qualified to the district white drives at Colchester and Ipswich: Mrs. Rayner, Miss Gillian Hughes, Mrs. R. Tricker, Mrs. Sissin, Mrs. H. Rule and Mr. J. Pitt.

Mr. Oliver Grimwood was responsible for the organisation and he expressed his thanks to the committee of ladies who sold tickets, made tea, and helped in many other ways.

A profit of £12 12s. was made which will be sent to the Institute and this includes a number of donations from kind people who were unable to be present.
