A meeting of the Women's Section of the Boxford, Edwardstone and Groton branch of the British Legion was held in the Village Hall, Boxford on Wednesday, March 18.

Mrs. Saunders was in the chair but the number of members present was not as large as usual owing to illness.

The chairman reported on the meeting that had been held in conjunction with the men's entertainment committee. She said that a social evening had been arranged for Saturday, April 25, for members and friends. Admission would be by ticket only and several members undertook to sell tickets, the price of which was fixed at 5s.

Resolutions which would be debated at the annual conference in the Isle of Man in May were discussed and it was agreed that Mrs. Swan who would be attending as a delegate should be asked to use her own discretion as to how she should vote.

An interesting and instructive account of life in Berlin was given by Mr. Malcolm Jones and Mrs. Swan, both of whom had recently visited the city by invitation of the Wethersfield air base. Mr. Jones showed a film illustrating many points of interest including several views of 'The Wall'. After close scrutiny and change of couriers, their party was allowed through the check point into East Berlin. Both speakers emphasised the feeling of tension which was present and which was quite frightening.

Mrs. Saunders thanked Mrs. Swan and Mr. Jones for their interesting pictures and comments.
