Boxford held its 21st open gardens event, attracting hundreds of visitors to the village on Sunday.

A total of 27 gardens were open to the public with a free mini bus available to ferry people around to admire, and view, the carefully-tended gardens on show.

Village volunteers baked cakes and served refreshments for visitors in the village hall, and a newly-formed choir called Madrigalia entertained the crowds, all helping to raise around £3,700 for St Mary’s Church.

More than £50,000 has been raised raised for the church since the event began.

Organiser Sarah Williams said volunteers had been up as early as 5am setting up stalls for the event which began at 11am and ran until 4pm

She said: "Our thanks go the all the volunteers who worked so hard. Thanks to the village for coming out to support Boxford Open Gardens.

"The choir was very well received and we hope to do that again next year and perhaps have them sing in the church as the acoustics are very good there."

Visitors got the chance to get a bird’s eye view of the village by climbing the church tower.

The event was sponsored by businesses and villagers, with the main sponsor being drinks company Konings.
